Palin PR Carnival Comes to Town |
By Kevin McCauley |

Forget about the White House spat with Fox News. That's peanuts. The epic PR battle between Sarah Palin and Levi Johnston, father of her grandson, Tripp, is shaping up as great entertainment for the month of November.
The lines are set. Palin’s memoir, "Going Rogue" will be published next month with a national book tour set for Alaska's former Governor. That stacks up against a nude photo shoot Johnston scheduled with Playgirl in November.
A skirmish between the two PR combatants kicked off Wednesday after Johnston's appearance of CBS's "The Early Show," where he divulged some inside info on the Palin family that hardly positioned it for "Family of the Year" honors. John McCain's former running mate is no slouch when it comes to slinging mud. She attacked CBS for providing a forum for Johnston to "propagate lies" such as his claim that she refers to her Down syndrome child as "retarded."
As for Johnston, Palin said "those who would see their body for money reflect a desperate need for attention and are likely to say and do anything for even more attention." Johnston, 19, has made no bones about the need to cash in on his celebrity. He is the sole supporter of his sister after his mother, Sherry, was jailed for selling Oxycontin.
There is a potential mediator for the Palin/Johnston war of wars. Enter Oprah Winfrey.
Television's First Lady has penciled in Palin for a November 16 appearance on her program. What a coincidence! That's the same day Levi is slated for his photo shoot. Oprah should invite Levi to appear side-by-side with Sarah.
One can be sure the timing of the Playgirl pictures can be switched. It would be a ratings coup for Winfrey and maybe the beginning of the end of the Palin/Johnston brawl.
Palin doesn't need Levi to muck up her presidential bid. |
