Sean Hannity Goes Mano-a Mano with Pee-Wee Herman
By Kevin McCauley
There's a lot of excitement in New York these days, revolving around Sean Hannity and Pee-Wee Herman, who wowed the crowd June 2 at Radio City Hall during Conan O'Brien's "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on TV Tour."
The Heritage Foundation, taking a break from blistering President Obama for BP's oil spill, today unveiled a special deal for the Big Apple. For a contribution of $125, lucky New Yorkers will be blessed with two books free of charge penned by the right-wing's beloved Hannity.
Those masterpieces include "Conservative Victory: Defeating Obama's Radical Agenda" and "Deliver Us from Evil." Hannity, a card-holding member of Heritage, will personally autograph his anti-Obama rant for the first 100 people who fork over $250 to the Washington-based think tank.
Heritage’s Ed Feulner is offering New Yorkers the sweet deal because he thinks we have “borne the brunt of many of the Obama Administration’s poor policy decisions” such as the “endless taxpayer-funded Wall Street bailouts,” “heavy-regulating financial reforms” and the plan to try terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in NYC.
Truth be told: the bailout fun began under President Bush, financial regulation is necessary to restore faith in global banking and the trial locale has been shifted.
Hannity is a loyal foot soldier in Heritage’s army dedicated to "fighting the so-called progressive agenda" and leading the charge against the "left's harmful ideas."
His enthusiasm for combat is what we need in Afghanistan. During his radio show, Hannity frequently plugs Heritage, saying: "We must keep The Heritage Foundation strong so that, together, we can defeat the left." Heritage is also a big fan of Fox News pundit John Stossel, whom it works closely with to "equip Americans with the facts and provide them with workable alternatives to the left's harmful agenda."
Heritage doesn’t have a book promotion with Stossel as of yet. He wrote "Give Me a Break and Myths, Lies," and "Downright Stupidity," a book that sounds like a great tie-in for Heritage.
Pee-Wee (57-year-old Paul Reubens) doesn’t have a book promotion deal with a public policy group. He is booked for Broadway for a six-week run beginning in October. The bow-tied festooned man-child is slated to reprise his classic “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” series.
The ACLU should take a cue from Heritage and cut a deal with Pee-Wee, who has had his run-ins with the law and censorship police. Sign up for the ACLU and get a Pee-Wee ducat. After all, most New Yorkers would opt for a night on the Great White Way with Pee-Wee rather than curling up with “Conservative Victory,” a nightmare scenario for The Big City.
