Glover Park Group, Washington, D.C.. and Westhill Media Partners,
New York, created the "hard liquor" ad that NBC
agreed to run on "Saturday Night Live" on Dec. 15.
The TV networks have not run a liquor ad since the distilled
spirits marketers put a voluntary ban in place on them five
years ago.
NBC has agreed to run the Smirnoff Vodka spot promoting the
use of a designated driver.
Spots have aired on smaller affiliate stations since that
ban was lifted. NBC is the first of the major networks to
run a hard liquor ad.
GPG was formed by Clinton/Gore veterans Joe Lockhart and
Carter Eskew earlier this year, and has handled PR and ad
campaigns for the AFL-CIO, the Pentagon, and MCI-Worldcom.
Westhill Media Partners, John Scanlon's old haunt, made news
earlier this year when it was hired by Rev Jesse Jackson (love
child) and former Sen. Bob Kerrey (Vietnam flashbacks).
Scanlon died in May.
