CRUISE DROPS SISTER FOR R&C

Tom Cruise has axed his sister, Lee Anne DeVette, as his publicist, shifting the job to Rogers & Cowan's Paul Bloch.

Cruise's image has been tarnished by a manic appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in which he expressed his love for actress Katie Holmes, and his public attack on Brooke Shields for using anti-depressants.

In a statement, Cruise said DeVette wanted to oversee his charitable endeavors and now will have the time to do so. The 43-year-old actor credited DeVette for doing a "wonderful job."

Cruise turned to his sister after he ousted long-time PR rep Pat Kingsley in '04. Like Kingsley, Bloch is a celebrity PR heavyweight as evidenced by a client roster that includes Sly Stallone, Bruce Willis and John Travolta, who like Cruise is a Scientologist.

Cruise is the star of "War of the Worlds," a film that had Paramount Pictures enjoying its best quarter in years, according to Wall Street analyst Alan Gould.

Boycott Leader (11/10):
New spinster or not, Cruise will face one painful reality in the coming years (hopefully decades) -- the American public is sick of him! The time for a Cruise movie boycott has come.

I'm not wild about Brooke Shields, actually couldn't care less about her problems. But how dare you criticize another person's decision to seek help so that she could be a better mother to a new baby?

Just watch how quickly Cruise abandons his cult when his next 4 films, whatever their merits, tank because this idiot thinks moviegoers want to hear his opinion on real world issues. Like ... Cruise is an educated man?! Tom -- how do you spell boycott?

Oh, and congratulations to Nicole Kidman. I'll bet that was one weird relationship.

I hope you can put it behind you and join the rest of us in a good laugh at Tom's absurd sense of self worth.

Rock Hudson (11/09):
Tom Cruise isn't an actor. He's a movie star. And he's about as qualified to talk about psychiatry and depression as his sister was to
handle his PR.

And why is he so worried about his "image" anyway. He's manly and verile. Right?

Good Choice (11/08):
I remember working with Paul when he was just a VP, and not co-chairman. Bloch was one of those R&C guys that was nice to everyone - from the little interns to the AEs - and yet was able to do his job. Good choice for Cruise, and hopefully he can fix the damage the incompetent sister did on Cruise.
