French ad and PR conglomerate Havas said Aug. 30 that first-half half profit soared 22.5% to about $62M compared with 2009, as revenue ticked up 4.2% to 729M euro or $927M.
North American revenue was up 4.6% organically (minus acquisitions and currency movements) to 131M in a region the company called the "powerhouse" for growth, while Europe fell 2.2% to 218M compared with a year earlier, although the U.K. returned to positive growth in Q2.
Advertising, healthcare communication and media business were singled out in North America as top performers.
Havas' PR units include Euro RSCG Worldwide and Abernathy MacGregor Group.
China, India and Singapore drove gains in the "rest of the world" of 15.6% organically.
