Walt Disney World has promoted former Bush administration hand Brian Besanceney to head public, government and industry relations for the Florida resort and theme park.
He adds the duties of Shannon McAleavey, who stepped down as VP of public affairs in September after a five-year stint.

Besanceney, a former deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, oversees media relations, internal and external comms. for the Florida resort and leads government and industry relations for Disney Parks & Resorts worldwide.
He is relocating from California and reports to Kristin Nolt Wingard, senior VP of PA for Disney Parks & Resorts.
"Brian will prove to be an invaluable asset for our government and industry relations efforts in the coming years as we expand and grow our businesses across the globe," Wingard said in a statement.
Besanceney was assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, deputy communications director in the recent Bush White House, communications director for former U.S. Rep. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), among other PR stints.
