PR software provider Vocus, which had more than $93M in cash on hand at the end of the third quarter, has hired pharma sales and marketing executive James Bruno as senior vice president of corporate development to focus on mergers and acquisitions.

Vocus made three acquisitions this year -- crowdsourcing service HARO (U.S.), BDL Media (China) and a nearly $11M deal to acquire French PR software company Datapress -- and the company suggests more are likely in the cards.
President and CEO Rick Rudman said the market is “laden with opportunities” and said Bruno will help the company identify targets.
Bruno had been in the pharmaceuticals sector, working as VP of sales Remedi Senior Care for the past two years and senior VP of commercial operations for Arpida. Previous stints included marketing and PR posts at Medimmune, Pharmacia and GlaxoSmithKline.
Vocus’ third quarter revenue was up 17% to $24.7M.
