Cater, who starts Nov. 22, previously directed C&W’s Europe, Middle East and Africa operations after heading GCI/U.K. up until its merger with C&W in 2008.
He left C&W in December 2009 to serve as managing director of the U.K. for Chamberlain.
Previous stints included APCO Worldwide (director), Ketchum (partner, director of global healthcare), National PR and Edelman.
He’ll report to C&W CEO Donna Imperato, who said she’s “absolutely thrilled” to have Cater back at the WPP-owned agency.
