U.S. public diplomacy chief Judith McHale is slated to deliver a public lecture Oct. 7 in Lexington, Va., on the legacy of George Marshall, author of the post-World War II Marshall Plan.
McHale, the former chief of Discovery Communications, has traveled and lectured widely since her appointment by President Barack Obama to craft the U.S. message abroad as Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy.
McHale will give the lecture -- "Enduring Leadership: Marshall's Legacy for American Public Diplomacy in the 21st Century" -- at the George C. Marshall Foundation's Lee Chapel in Lexington at 7:30 p.m. The event is open to the public.
McHale often notes in her talks that she occupies Marshall's former office at the State Department.
