Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter & Associates has added three congressional Democratic communications staffers to its ranks as managing associates.
Julia Krahe, communications director for seven-term Rep. David Wu (D-Ore.), Jonathan Kott, comms. director for the failed 2010 Senate bid of ex-Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-Ind.), and Zach Lowe, press secretary to former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) are joining CLS&A’s public affairs unit.
The firm has also added TechAmerica VP of communications Charlie Greenwal as a managing director. TA is the trade group formerly known as the Information Technology Association of America. He also held corporate comms. posts at Computer Sciences Corporation and American Management Systems.
Lowe handles clients like Genworth Financial and the Kenyan government at CLS&A, while Kott works PA and crisis counsel for tech and pharmaceutical clients, and Krahe works Google, the Center for Wine Origins and the Champagne region of France for the firm.
Kott also led comms. for Rep. Anthony Weiner and was press secretary to Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.).
Krahe left Wu’s office with a handful of other staffers in January following re-election and what The Hill described as the congressman’s “strange behavior” at public events.
