New York Women in Communications will give Zenia Mucha, executive VP/chief communications officer at Walt Disney Co., a 2012 Matrix Award at the April 23 luncheon gala at the Waldorf-Astoria.
She oversees global PR for Disney as well as its business segments and its philanthropic/environmental initiatives. Mucha served as chief spokesperson for key Disney acquisitions such as Pixar, Marvel and Club Penguin.
She joined the corporate parent in 2001 after leaving the senior VP-communications post at its ABC broadcast group and TV network subsidiary.
Prior to Disney, Mucha was communications director and senior policy adviser to New York State Governor George Pataki and Senator Al D’Amato.
The other Matrix winners are Tyra Banks, CEO of Bankable Inc.; Gayle Butler, editor-in-chief of Better Homes & Gardens; Glenn Close, actress/producer; Maria Cuomo Cole, film producer and chairman of Help USA; Ann Curry, co-anchor of “Today;” Laura Desmond; CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group, and Peggy Noonan, Wall Street Journal columnist.
Interpublic will host the ceremony.
