New York City's two-year-old project to help the media industry navigate economic challenges is on the hunt for a consultant to launch the NYC Media Lab, a bid to foster ties between institutions like academia and venture capitalists and the industry.
An RFP released Dec. 22 calls for a launch of the Lab, tabulation of private sector and university media research projects, solicitation of funding and resources for the Lab, and efforts to "strengthen New York City's brand as a center for next-generation media-relation research and development," among other tasks.
The Lab is part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's MediaNYC 2020 launched in 2009 to "do everything possible to help the industry capitalize on new opportunities and expand operations here in New York.
