Big-screen movie technology pioneer IMAX Corp. has filled its vacant top corporate communications slot with Edelman senior VP Ann Sommerlath.
The VP post had been vacant since Sarah Gormley left the company to head corporate communications at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in November.
Sommerlath, a former financial journalist reporting directly to CEO Richard Gelfondat IMAX, will lead IMAX's media initiatives and drive its overall communications strategy, the company said.
IMAX, based in Mississauga, Ontario, with offices in New York, produces and leases its eponymous motion picture screens in 45 countries. It also produces films. Sales for 2009 were $171.2M. Principal Communications Group and Sloane & Company handle PR and financial communcations for the company.
Sommerlath was a senior media strategist at Edelman and also served as senior VP at Fleishman-Hillard and managing director of investor relations at RF|Binder Partners.
She wrote for Dow Jones Newswires, BridgeNews and the Associated Press prior to her PR career.
