APCO Worldwide has terminated its FARA relationship with Russia’s state-owned nuclear holding company, Techsnabexport, according to its July 8 Justice Dept. filing of the independent PR firm. The pact had been extended in March for six-months at $1M.
An APCO spokesperson said the firm registered Tenex as a Lobbying Disclosure Act client. The mission is to promote closer commercial cooperation in the civil nuclear field and to support efforts to achieve Tenex’s business objectives in the United States.
Under FARA, the Washington-based independent PR firm worked the State and Energy Depts. to implement the nuclear treaty inked with Russia in January and to foster cooperation between the two countries.
For Tenex on June 30, APCO’ distributed a survey that found that Japan’s Fukushima nuclear accident had little impact on the support of nuclear power in the U.S.
A PR Newswire release quoted APCO Insight director Mark Benson saying, “Though awareness and concern over events in Fukushima are exceptionally high, the basic logic for the nuclear renaissance remains intact.” |
