Standard & Poor’s corporate communications chief Catherine Mathis was elected president of New York Women in Communications for the 2011-12 year.

Mathis, former head of corporate comms. for the New York Times, moved to S&P in 2009. She takes over for Linda Kaplan Thaler atop the board of the 2,000-member organization or PR, advertising, digital and media pros.
Nancy Weber, executive VP and CMO of Meredith Corp., was named president-elect.
Several PR pros were also named to the board. Stacy Green, communications director for Mashable, is VP, integrated marketing and communications – branding, for the group, while Kaplan Thaler Group managing director Tricia Kenney is VP for PR for NYWIC.
Julie Livingston of Childs Play Communications is a VP/membership, while Alysia Lew, VP of comms., Madison Square Garden, and Lauren Skowronski, director of media relations for MSNBC, are VPs, programming. Stephanie Fraiman, associate PR manager, The Knot, is a VP/foundation liaison.
