Celebrity PR pro Mara Buxbaum, COO of ID PR, reps Julie Taymor, who has been removed as director of the troubled "Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark" Broadway play.
She will have a continued but lesser role in the production
Taymor, who directed Disney’s blockbuster "The Lion King," had overseen every detail in the $70M production, which now eyes an opening night in June. She has been involved with Spider-Man, Broadway’s most expensive show ever, since 2006.
Rick Miramontez, president of O&M Co., handles PR for the play. He says "additional time commitments" needed to revamp Spider-Man for its June debut make it impossible for Taymor to continue her day-to-day duties.
O&M took over PR duties for the play last July, when Boneau/Bryan-Brown resigned the account.
Buxbaum opened a New York office for Los Angeles-based ID in 1999. She had been at PMK , handling clients like Michelle Pfeiffer, Winona Ryder and Christina Ricci. She has also represented Jake Gyllenhaal, Sean Penn, Christopher Walken, Robin Williams and the late Heath Ledger.
