Joe Honick, GMA International Ltd (5/02):
Of course it is great that this man has been taken down. It is also important if not critical that we understand the mentality of those he commanded and led philosophically as well as militarily. He will be immortalized by his followers who may well see this effort as something to stimulate them to new and more dangerous efforts.
There are sound reasons wny our diplomatic facilities were put on high alert once the news was out. It's a time for great care in what our leadership, politicians and media say and do.
Brian M (5/02):
Without sounding crass, this is a huge PR victory for the administration. Despite the cushy statements from the president's prospective opponents, they know this is a huge boost to re-election.
That said, I commend the military for an excellent effort and huge strategic victory. As one report mentioned, we'll probably never know the names of those of executed this mission but the American public owes them a huge debt of grattitude.
Wes Pedersen (5/02):
Joe is right. It is bloodletting time now. Osama's followers will not take this without retaliation. Obama hit just about the right note, and he deserves great credit for making the right command decision. The young men who tracked down Osama deserve every honor they can get. A fantastic job.

Unanswered questions that will be asked in the days ahead:
1. If he has had a permanent Million Dollar residence in Pakistan in a wealthy neighborhood, how could he be that inconspicuous all this time?
2. If he has had such an operation in Pakistan so long, where have the Pakistanis been?
3. Since we went in solo on this deal, as we really had to, what will we have to do to keep the Pakistani folks happy, and what will it cost?
4. Why did we dump bin Laden's body at sea?
5. Why are these questions not being asked elsewhere? 6. Finally, who is his apparently trusted second in command who also knows how to manipulate the world media?
Bill Huey, Strategic Communications, Atlanta (5/02):
When Obama exclaimed, "What a week!" early in his remarks at the WHCD on Saturday night we all thought he was joking about the birth certificate business.
Some MUCH bigger news was on the way, and he had to sit on it until Sunday night.
Anyone think Trump could have done that?
Wes Pedersen (5/02):
The president did not underplay his role in this. He made a command decision and he wanted everyone and he almost reveled in his newly proven ability to lead and direct an incredibly daring mission. Jimmy Carter tried to head up a rescue mission of U.S. diplomats held in Iran. That mission failed because no one had the sense to order a backup helicopter. The solo copter failed and Carter became, unfairly, a laughing stock. Bill Clinton ordered a blast at Osama. That too failed, and he was razzed by the armchair analysts.
Kevin Foley (5/02):
Watch the far right echo chamber politicize this victory. I expect something like, "What took Obama so long?" or "This operation began on Bush's watch."
Fed Up In NYC! (5/02):
Mr Foley- Thankfully BHO didn't close down Gitmo and even CNN admits most of the intel came from Gitmo detainees and a result of "enhanced interrogations!" Detain and enhance away! Good for BHO...GOOD FOR THE USA!
