Fed Up In NYC! (11/09):
The trustees did what needed to be done.. good riddance to a man who made his own rules- and lived a life of denial. All which created the environment by which such a tragedy could occur! He and the rest of the University officials who knew or should have know what was going on (read the complaint) should be indicted as well! SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!!! And any agency that tries to manage the damage control- are of equal shame!
Disgusted (11/11):
If they are there, on the ground and providing counsel, one can only hope that he is ignoring it. IF they have counseled him to do that cheap "I WILL RETIRE . . . . . . . (when I WANT TO)" trick, they should ashamed.
Thank heavens the trustees didn't fall for it. And standing out there as students trash the town and saying GO PENN, instead of "go home you kids, be sensible, worry about the little children who were hurt" -- if that was his PR counsel's guidance, again, shame on them.
He is mouthing words about sorry, sorry, but his arrogance and ruthlessness ooze out with every statement. Thumbs down to the board members who let him become this self-styled czar.
I think they (FINALLY) handled it well on Wednesday, with the vice chair of the board doing well in the press conference, but they created the climate in which this ugliness could exist, so they get no props at this point. AND it took them till Friday to figure out what to do about the assistant coach who SAW a little boy being raped and WALKED AWAY and left the kid to be attacked.
A week to figure out what to do with him? REALLY? IF Penn State has PR people on staff, I can only hope they tried their best to provide counesl and were ignored.
IF they are "managing" this ongoing train wreck, they should resign. One of the sorriest PR spectacles in recent memory.
Mike Paul, the Reputation Doctor (11/11):
The trustees should be held accountable themselves! The buck stops at the top of the ladder, which is not just the President! It looks like the Penn State board of trustees will wait until the feds and public pressure force them out too. Let's remember, this case is about the alleged rape and abuse of little boys by a grown man and the cover-up of all. Nothing should come before their justice. Nothing.
Look for much more dirt to surface, many more heads to roll and sadly, many more victims to be announced. We must remember the abuse lasted over a 17 year period. Those boys are now scarred young men and in need of a lot of help. Look for the victims to be in the dozens. Let's say a prayer for them all. They deserve both justice and true healing! |
