Illinois’ Regional Transportation Authority has approved a three-month, no-bid pact with Hill & Knowlton for communications.
The RTA oversees mass transit for two million daily riders in six counties in Illinois, including Chicago.
Former Chicago Tribune reporter and mayoral aide Bill Griffin, a senior VP at H&K who heads its Midwest public affairs unit, heads the assignment at H&K capped at $45K
The Tribune reported that H&K will help the transit agency tell its story to the public and legislature, while also guiding communications for the transit agency’s budget goals and other initiatives.
The RTA is engaged in a legal battle over tax funding and the Chicago Transit Authority reported last week that it faces a $277M deficit for 2012
