Hat's Off: The Headwear Association, the trade group which traces its roots to a 1908 gathering of the Traveling Hat Salesmen's Association, has inducted six luminaries to its class of 2013 Hall of Fame. Crooners Tom Waits and Josephine Baker, actors Cary Grant, Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, and stylist Rachel Zoe are the 2013 inductees.
"The six chosen to be inducted into the 2013 Headwear Hall of Fame are all known for frequently wearing hats and have all elevated the visibility of the headwear category,” said THA president Stephanie Carter.

Defense Dirigible: Raytheon has released this photo of its JLENS radar system to combat the threat of so-called swarming boats, small watercraft loaded with explosives which target large military ships.
The system, which has an operating cost well below traditional drone or fixed-wing aircraft, is comprised of two aerostats (blimps) which fly as high as 10,000 feet and can remain airborne for up to 30 days.
In addition to swarming boats, the system detects cars, trucks, boats and other aircraft.

The Breckenridge Resort Chamber, which released this shot of a parade float that includes a hot tub, says locals started the tradition in 1963 to thank Ullr for Breckenridge's average of 300 inches of snow each winter.
