Duane Reade has hired 5W Public Relations to handle PR as New York City’s No. 1 drug store chain promotes the “New York living made easy” theme designed for the harried on-the-go crowd.
The Walgreens’ unit opened its second outlet in the financial district this month, featuring a gourmet salad bar and café that aims to satisfy the needs of time-stressed professionals.
The 100 Broadway location takes pharmacists from behind the counter and puts them front and center, where they can engage with customers. An in-store museum pays tribute to the rich history of lower Manhattan.
5W also publicizes DR initiatives such as its partnership with Mission Electric to determine which of its outlets will be serviced by electric trucks. The chain has purchased 14 Mission Electric trucks, so far, which replaces a quarter of its fleet.
Mission Electric is funded by the Dept. of Energy and led by the NYC’s Mayor’s Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability and the Lower Hudson Valley Clean Communities Coalition. |
