The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has tapped Yale University communications director and veteran healthcare PR exec Robin Hogen to head communications, following a national search.

Hogen is slated to take the VP/comms. post for the large, Princeton, N.J.-based health foundation on May 1. He currently leads a six-person team as director of strategic communications at Yale.
David Morse retired as VP/comms. at RWJ last year after a decade with the foundation and a long career in the healthcare sector. Fred Mann, deputy director of comms., has been interim head of comms. for the foundation.
“As the world of communications changes rapidly, Robin is the type of leader who can build on our strong tradition and help us become even more effective,” said foundation president and CEO Risa Lavizzo-Mourey.
Earlier posts for Hogen included VP of public affairs for Purdue Pharma, VP/external affairs for Fisher Scientific, and executive director of PA at Merck, where he led the pharma company’s foundation.
RWJ is the third largest foundation in the U.S. and largest focused on health with $7.5B in assets.
