Michael Maibach, who was president of the European American Business Council, has joined Mercator XXI, the government relations/policy shop was founded in 2009 by IBM’s top lobbyist Chris Caine.

Caine cited Maibach’s business diplomacy savvy and his “contributions to trans-Atlantic relations” as major assets to Mercator.
Prior to the EABC, Maibach served as senior VP/government affairs at Siebel Systems, where he opened its Washington outpost.
He spent 17 years at Intel, exiting as VP-government affairs. Maibach opened Intel offices in D.C., Brussels and Beijing and served as advisor to co-founder Robert Noyce. He also managed Intel’s political action committee.
Earlier, Maibach did a seven-year stint in Caterpillar’s government affairs slot.
Mercator has offices in Cairo, Bangalore, Beijing, Tokyo, Berlin and Ottawa. It counts IBM, Amgen, Toyota, Qualcomm, NCR, Business Roundtable and Huawei as clients.
