Republican Ohio Congressman Steve LaTourette, who has just retired after 18 years of service, is setting up a D.C.-based lobbying unit for McDonald Hopkins law firm, which is based in Cleveland. His wife, Jennifer, a former lobbyist for Van Scoyoc Assocs., is joining him as VP of McDonald Hopkins Government Strategies.
Carl Grassi, president of MH, said in a statement that the D.C. outpost is a “natural move for McDonald Hopkins, building upon our state-level advocacy practices, and is a great opportunity for us to work with Steve and Jennifer LaTourette.”
In Congress, LaTourette was a key ally of House Speaker John Boehner. He served on the House Appropriations Committee and: Transportation, Housing and Urban Development; Interior, Environment and Related Agencies; and Legislative Branch subcommittees.
LaTourette also has accepted a three-year term as president of the Republican Main Street Partnership, which says it backs a pragmatic, fiscally conservative "governing majority" where political debate is encouraged to promote solutions to improve the lives of all Americans.
At VSA since 2003, Jennifer represented Chicago Public Schools, National Urban League, the University of Akron and Defiance College.
