ashley zandyAshley Zandy is leaving Facebook's corporate communications unit today for Chinese e-commerce juggernaut Alibaba in a post overseeing corporate and financial communications outside of Mainland China.

Hangzhou-based Alibaba, which is ramping up its entry into the U.S. market, is planning a highly anticipated IPO this year worth up to $15B.

Zandy, who announced the move on Twitter this week, joined Menlo Park-based Facebook in 2012 as manager of corporate comms. after four years at Brunswick Group in New York and San Francisco. She started out at Brainerd Communications.

She will work out of Alibaba's U.S. base of Santa Clara starting in October.

The e-commerce business logged a whopping $170B in revenue last year, mostly in China. It is expected to face off with Amazon.com and eBay in the U.S.
