Publicis Group, which is merging with Omnicom, has acquired Heartbeat Ideas, a 15-year-old digital shop with 90 staffers.

It provides social, mobile and online branding work for clients such as McNeil Consumer, Novartis, Sanofi, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Galderma.

Heartbeat, which has offices in New York’s TriBeCa neighborhood and Santa Monica, is folding into the revamped Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness.

Founder/CEO Bill Drummy will retain the helm with co-managing directors Kathy Delaney and JD Cassidy.

Nick Colucci, President/CEO of Publicis Healthcare Communications Group, said the deal “demonstrates our deep understanding of our clients' need to have a communications partner that can look at their brands holistically and provide interconnected and innovative solutions."

His unit has more than 5,000 staffers.
