Edelman has hired Chris Paul for the new post of global director of paid media as the independent works to integrate that function into its trans-media offerings.

chris paulPaul, who will start Dec. 9, was general manager of Publicis Groupe’s  Audience on Demand data/media training hub.

Publicis is merging with Omnicom.

Earlier, he was at Digitas, where he handled the media team for American Express.

Kevin King, global practice chair of Edelman Digital, said Paul’s recruitment is part of the firm’s effort to “define a unique paid offer” in the rapidly converging media environment. 

Edelman’s focus is to “continue leveraging paid to amplify owned, earned and social efforts,” according to King.

Paul will report to King and work closely with John Clinton, who is in charge of Edelman’s paid media strategy and CEO of Edelman Canada.
