Jim Saccomano, VP of corporate communications for the NFL's Denver Broncos, plans to retire at the end of the current season after 36 years with the team.

saccomanoHe plans to work a consulting role with the Broncos after retiring and will blog for the team's website.

Saccomano worked the PR beat for 26 Super Bowls, including 21 on the NFL's PR staff and five in which the Broncos played. He started out with the minor league baseball Denver Bears before joining the Broncos in 1978 after finishing a master's degree in journalism at the Univ. of Colorado. 

The Broncos, before their 51-28 win over the Tennessee Titans on Dec. 8, named the Sports Authority Field press box in Saccomano's honor.

Saccomano won the Professional Football Writers Association's top PR award, The Pete Rozelle Award, in its inaugural year, 1980.
