The University of Iowa's cardiovascular research center, a $40M-a-year, 40-year-old institution, has called for proposals from PR agencies to raise its profile on a regional, national and global basis.

University of IowaThe Iowa City institution wants a PR firm to target national media, medical school and PhD recruits, science collaborators, pharma industry leadership and venture capitalist. Traditional and electronic media are both on the radar, including social media and blogger outreach.

While the institution feels it is well represented in the scientific press, it wants more exposure among national mainstream and business media, in particular.

The UICVC, as it is known, currently counts 150 investigators in 28 science and clinical departments with ongoing support from the National Institutes of Health and an annual budget of $40.8M.

Proposals are due May 7.
