Kathleen DezioKathleen Dezio, who led communications and public affairs for the cosmetics industry trade group the Personal Care Products Council, has taken the reins of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums, the Virginia-based global association for zoos and parks like SeaWorld and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

Dezio, as executive director based in Alexandria, takes over for Marilee Menard, who is retiring after 21 years.

Dezio was executive VP of PA and comm. for the PCPC and earlier led communications for the American Beverage Association, which reps non-alcoholic drink marketers.

The AMMPA  includes dozens of member parks in the U.S. and abroad, as well as research organizations and trade groups for veterinarians, zoos and aquariums.  It runs an accreditation program and public service campaigns, including a recent push to discourage people from feeding wild dolphins.
