texasTexas has kicked off a search for European tourism PR.

The Lone Star State's Economic Development and Tourism Office released an RFP on June 26 for the account, encompassing consumer, media, travel trade and meetings market outreach. The firm is to create a "responsible, accurate and positive image of Texas," pitching the state as a premier travel destination in European markets designated by the EDTO.

The state does not currently have a European firm. Weber Shandwick handles Asia (China, Japan, Korea). Edelman works its US account.

A two-year contract is planned, capped at $700K for the first year.

Proposals are due July 10. View the RFP (PDF)
