Austin-based Phillips & Company has acquired the boutique firms of tech and public affairs pro Lara Kennedy Hogan, who joins P&C as a senior VP.

hoganRich Phillips, president of P&C, said the acquisition comes on the heels of increased demand and to create new business opportunities in social and digital media. He added that the firm is looking for partnerships or acquisitions with two more shops in Texas or the Washington, D.C., area.

Hogan, a former Congressional aide, founded Hogan PR in 2010 and changed its name to Kennedy & Co. in 2012. The firm produced the Black Tie & Boots 2013 Presidential Inaugural Ball for the Texas State Society in Washington in January.

Hogan also runs Check 6 Consulting, formed in March in a merger with Peckish Design & Marketing and which has outposts in Round Rock, Tex., and Alexandria, Va.

Hogan was a lobbyist for Medpond and later handled PR for the Texas Association of Builders. On the Hill, she was communications director and press secretary to Reps. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) and Greg Walden (R-Ore.) and later ran Liz Lauber's unsuccessful bid for a Missouri House seat.

Peckish founder Felicia Mae Rateliff joins the top-10-ranked P&C as a manger focused on social media strategy, branding and digital design.
