elise eberweinElise Eberwein, who joined the airline industry as a flight attendant for TWA, has been named executive VP to oversee media relations, communications and public affairs, among other departments, for the combined American Airlines and US Airways.

The 48-year-old Eberwein's "people and communications" purview also includes HR, inernal comms. and social media at AMR Corp., the American parent and surviving entity in the $11B deal, announced in January 2012.

She has been with US Airways since 2003 and was previously VP of corporate communications for America West after a stint at Frontier Airlines in charge of media relations, customer relations and government affairs.

Eberwein started out at TWA and spent 11 years there.

The combined American/US Airways is keeping the American name. US Airways CEO Doug Parker leads the carrier.
