Ellen Davis, chief public information officer at the U.S. Attorney's office for the Southern District of New York, is joining financial communications/corporate/crisis specialist Sard Verbinnen & Co in September.

Ellen DavisShe currently oversees media for U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who was appointed by President Obama in 2009, and 230 lawyers in cases involving insider trading and other financial crimes.

Davis will not handle SV&C client SAC Capital, which is the subject of an insider trading probe.

During the 1990s, she worked at the Justice Dept. and in the Clinton White House on a special assignment in the counsel's office vetting cabinet and sub-cabinet nominees.

She went on to work as an attorney at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, supervising producer at ABC News, managing director at Public Strategies Inc. and head of her own crisis communications shop.

Davis joined the Southern District in 2010 and will depart at the end of the month.
