A Florida PR firm is working with conservative activist group Judicial Watch to promote a $200M suit against the Obama administration on behalf of families of the elite Navy SEAL Team Six who say their family members were killed in a Taliban retaliation strike for the killing of Osama bin Laden.

marineThe suit alleges that Vice President Joe Biden and former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta disclosed classified information on the May 2011 successful bin Laden operation that put a "target on the backs" of the SEALs later killed when their helicopter was shot down Aug. 6, 2011 in Afghanistan.

TransMedia Group, a Boca Raton PR firm that has worked with JW on high-profile litigation in the past, is promoting the suit, which also names Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and the Islamic Republics of Afghanistan and Iran as defendants for allegedly conspiring with the Taliban and engaging in terrorism.

"The hard reality is that Biden and Panetta are alive 'feasting' on their 'political notoriety,' power, and wealth, while the brave heroes who gave their lives for our nation's security are dead, thanks to them," said JW founder Larry Klayman, a former federal prosecutor representing the plaintiff families.

Thirty U.S. Special Forces, including 16 SEALs and other support members were killed in the NATO helicopter strike.

JW held a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington last month, featuring family members of the deceased servicemen.

Doug Hamburger, whose son Patrick was killed, expressed concern that the administration, in an unprecedented move, disclosed that SEALs killed bin Laden. "We really feel that this put our guys in an unnecessary risk," he said.

The Pentagon has praised the service of the deceased veterans but declined to comment on the specifics of the suit, which seeks damages topping $200M.

The case was filed in federal court for the District of Columbia. The suit (read the complaint, PDF) alleges Biden and Panetta violated the First, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments to the Constitution.
