Thomas Gensemer, a managing partner and chief executive for WPP's Blue State Digital, has moved to sister firm Burson-Marsteller in the chief strategy officer slot earlier held by now-global CEO Don Baer.
Reporting to U.S. CEO Dave Denherder, Gensemer tackles integrated campaigns and new product offerings for the firm.
WPP in 2010 acquired Blue State Digital, which executed a digital strategy credited with the 2008 Obama campaign's online and fund raising prowess.
Gensemer joined Blue State from America Coming Together in 2005, a year after the firm was founded by four veterans of the Howard Dean for President campaign.
He was previously principal at VC firm The Accelerator Group.
