The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications has named Univision and CNN veteran Dania Alexandrino as Spanish-language news manager.

Alexandrino is a news producer and reporter for the Univision Network and its east coast affiliates in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  She had been with CNN from 2010-16, reporting on major Latin America-related events.

Alexandrino will oversee the College’s Spanish-language news offerings, including the weekly Noticias WUFT radio broadcast, a student-produced show covering local, state, national and international news, sports, weather and public affairs programming.  She’ll also tackle developing an undergraduate joint certificate program in Spanish-language journalism.

Another CNN alum joined the College in January, digital senior editor Mira Lowe, who was brought in to lead the College’s news operation.

“Being able to extend our ‘teaching hospital’ model of learning to our bilingual students in a more significant way will benefit both the students and the community,” Lowe said.
