Edelman has recruited Abernathy MacGregor Group managing director Lex Suvanto for its financial communications operation.
The tech-savvy Suvanto handled M&A, IPOs, litigation and other finance-related PR assignments for clients like Walmart, PepsiCo and Comcast in nine years at Abernathy.
"Lex is exactly the kind of senior counselor clients expect from Edelman in this new environment," said Richard Edelman, noting financial communications' expanding borders in digital and social, as well as regulatory and employee engagement.
He was with Abernathy parent Havas in the U.K. and France prior to joining that agency and after a stint at Hearst Magazines.
Edelman is touting its rise to the top 20 in the closely watched mergermarket rankings of M&A PR advisors. The firm recently advised Tempur-Pedic's $1.3 acquisition of Sealy.
