PRSA-NY kicked off its 2014 chapter year with its first ever “Forward” party and benefit held at ‘wichcraft Chelsea Piers on Jan. 15, drawing 70 area PR pros.
The three-hour event saw chapter president Henry Feintuch, president of Feintuch Communications, speak about the improving jobs scene in the NY PR community and made a plea for volunteerism in the industry.
Bill Doescher, the evening’s chair, urged attendees to open their wallets for a raffle to benefit the evening’s charitable partner, the Jewish Child Care Association. Leslie Gottlieb, director of communication and marketing for the JCCA who is a PRSA-NY board member and chairs its mentoring committee, spoke about the group's health and education programs in the region.
The raffle, which included jewelry and signed books, among other items, raised $775 for JCCA.
Feintuch credited a dozen PRSA-NY volunteers for the evening, including Bill Doescher, Forward Party chair and treasurer, PRSA-NY and president of The Doescher Group; Patty Tobin, PTobinPR; Chi-Chi Millaway, MBK Digital; Katie Kirby, MKTG; Scott Berwitz, Mindshare World; Diane Thieke, Simply Talk Media; Olga Gonzalez, Pietra PR; Jahzeel Campbell, St. John’s University, and Jehanne Rejouis, Melissa Nilsen and Ashley Cassidy of Hunter PR.
‘wichcraft provided gourmet event catering while wine distributor Nicholas Jazgonovich of Monsieur Touton prepared a wine tasting for guests.
