Beverly Hills-based Image Management PR represents the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who was found dead of a suspected drug overdose in his New York apartment on Sunday. He was 46.
Karen Samfilippo, founder of IMPR, is Hoffman's longtime rep. She released a statement on a behalf of Hoffman's family -- partner Mimi O'Donnell and three children -- on Feb. 2: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone," said the statement. This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers."
Samfilippo is a former VP of publicity for Polygram Films and Artisan Entertainment and worked the agency side at Rogers & Cowan, PMK. She opened IMPR in 2002. In addition to the late Hoffman, clients include actors Mark Harmon, Andie MacDowell, and Allison Janney.
The New York Police department said it is investigating the Oscar-winner's death as a possible drug overdose. CNN and other outlets reported that a needle was found in Hoffman's arm and bags of heroin were in the Greenwich Village apartment.
