Leslie Sloane, the veteran Hollywood publicist leaving entertainment PR powerhouse BWR, has the backing of production titan Harvey Weinstein and MSG/Cablevision chief James Dolan to start a new firm, entertainment press are reporting.

The New York Post's Page Six, which broke the story of Sloane's exit from BWR after 17 years, reported April 18 that The Weinstein Company and Dolan will provide financial backing to Sloane, who was reportedly asked to resign last week after looking to start her own firm.

The Hollywood Reporter called the split "acrimonious."

Harvey Weinstein is a client of Sloane, who is based in New York and has repped actors including Katie Holmes, Blake Lively, Chris Rock and Jennifer Lopez.

Weinstein Company's Weinstein Live operation is reportedly aligned with Sloane's new venture.

Los Angeles-basede BWR was founded by Paul Baker, Larry Winokur and Nanci Ryder. It was sold to WPP's Ogilvy in 1999.
