jeff platonJeff Platón, who was a top marketing executive at Cisco Systems, has joined Gutenberg Communications to drive its growth in Silicon Valley.

He takes the chief marketing officer and executive VP-marketing services practice.

In his dozen-year stint at the information technology giant, Platón helped craft its "Cisco Self Defending Network" push, which sparked revenues of its security business from $240M to a market leading $2.3B.

He also worked a combined 13 years at McAfee, Exabyte and Burroughs, the former Unisys.

Platón's experience in the B2B and B2C tech sectors includes, software, mobile, security, e-commerce, communication and collaboration, networking and the Internet of Things.

In hiring Platón, Hugh Burnham, Gutenberg CEO, noted, "the lines between marketing and public relations have been blurring for some time."

Platón will give the Los Gatos-based firm "the unique ability to influence business outcomes in both metrics and accountability," according to Burnham.
