jerry lewisJerry Lewis, who held top communications posts at the Univ. of Texas at Arlington and Univ. of Miami, is transferring to Emory University in Atlanta to lead communications and public affairs.

Lewis exits the VP/comms. slot at UT for a senior VP/comms. and PA title at Emory, starting on Sept. 8 and overseeing comms., government relations and community engagement.

The private, 14,500-student institution is a top 20 university by US News & World Report's 2014 ranking.

Lewis, a Virginia Commonwealth Univ. grad, previously spent 20 years at the Univ. of Miami, rising to VP and chief communications officer after leading comms. for its medical school.

He called Emory a "venerable brand and an amazing story to tell."

Nancy Seideman, executive director of Emory's media relations office, is serving as interim VP for comms. and marketing on the departure of seven-year comms. VP Ron Sauder.
