The National Security Agency, rocked by ongoing revelations of Edward Snowden, is looking to hire a strategic communications director to distribute its positions, messages, and policies to staffers, reporters and the general public.

nsaThe new hire will the "principal architect of external outreach to meet the President's expectations for greater transparency," according to the job posting.

Salary is up to $175K.

NSA director Admiral Mike Rogers has talked up the need for greater openness at the intelligence shop.

Long-time NSA PA director Judith Emmel says she's in the process of moving to a "wonderful new job."

Lead contractor coordination

The job listing says the successful candidate will also "lead a workforce of government and contractor personnel and effectively coordinate the work of others across a broad range of agency services to achieve desired outcomes." Snowden was a staffer at NSA contractor and Carlyle Group-owned Booz Allen Hamilton when he became a turncoat.

The job is based at Fort Mead headquarters (Maryland) will go a person with at least 10 years of PA/communications experience in the US government or related private sector company.

He/she will have a "demonstrated understanding of and experience applying public affairs regulations and practices in a federal government, preferably Department of Defense, setting."

The individual will have an "absolute record of discretion, confidentiality in all matters with a professional and appropriate demeanor and reputation maintained inside and outside the work place."

The ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance with special background investigation is a must.
