Weber Shandwick has named Luca Penati, tech veteran of Ogilvy and Edelman, general manager of San Francisco/Silicon Valley and western lead of the Mediaco content unit.

The more than 25-year PR veteran was with Ogilvy West in SF as managing director of content and social and earlier was global tech chief. Prior to Ogilvy, he was GM at Edelman's Silicon Valley operation.

Penati reports to North America president Sara Gavin and Mediaco global chief Jason Wellcome.

Weber president Gail Heimann says Penati "has the unique ability and experience to merge innovation with content."

He replaces Brad Williams as northern California chief, who will now focus on leadership of the North America tech unit.

Weber also named Lee Noonan global chief technology officer, who has joined from Havas Worldwide Digital.

Based in New York, he's in charge of the application and integration of existing and emerging technologies for Weber and its clients.

He reports to Interpublic's constituency management group chief information officer Craig Smith and Weber's COO Frank Okunak.
