Southfive Strategies has an $80K contract to help the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus make its case in Washington.

Turkey invaded the northern part of the Republic of Cyprus in 1974 following a Greek Cypriot-led coup aimed to make the island part of Greece, Turkey’s historic archrival.

Both sides have been have been holding peace talks, but those discussions are now on hold after Turkey sent a warship off the coast of Cyprus this month to monitor Greek Cypriot energy exploration.

Turkey is the only nation to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The Greek-controlled part of the island is a member of the EU and recognized by every nation except Turkey.

The lobbying firm of former Brooklyn/Staten Island Congressman Mike McMahon signed a one-year deal worth $200K last year to represent the Turkish-controlled Cyprus.
