Maureen Harper, chief of communications for the administration of Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson, is moving to the Denver Public Schools as chief communications officer.
Michael Vaughan, who held the Denver post for five years, departed in July to become director of communications for the high-profile public education advocacy group Education Post.
Harper heads PR, media relations, crisis and internal comms., and speechwriting for Jackson's administration and helped rollout the city's 2012 "transformation" of its public schools.
At the 84,000-student DPS, Harper heads a communications team of about 30 with an annual salary of $128K. The Denver Post noted the " state’s largest school district is seemingly always putting out fires."
