Publicly traded business VOIP technology provider ShoreTel has brought in Joele Frank, Wilkinson Brimmer Katcher for communications support as it weighs an unsolicited, $540M acquisition offer from Canadian rival Mitel Networks Corp.

shoretelShoreTel, based in Silicon Valley, posted fiscal 2014 revenue of $340M.

Mitel, also publicly traded, went public with its $8.10-per-share cash offer on Oct. 20 after, the company said, ShoreTel's board rejected an initial overture earlier this month.

ShoreTel confirmed the latest bid on Oct. 20, advising stockholders not to take action as it vets the offer.

Joele Frank president Matthew Sherman in New York, as well as San Francisco partners Jed Repko and Eric Brielmann are advising ShoreTel on the PR front. Barry Hutton heads IR in-house for the Sunnyvale-based company. Katie Maller is comms. manager.

Amy MacLeod, VP of corporate communications for Ottawa-based Mitel, said the company is relying on existing agency (Narrate PR) and in-house resources.
