Veteran corporate communications and IR exec Julie Cunningham has moved to $3B, publicly traded diagnostic device maker Alere as VP of IR.

julie cunninghamAlere installed COO and J&J alum Namal Nawana as CEO last month after the resignation of founding CEO Ron Zwanziger, who later unveiled an unsolicited plan in September to take the company private in a $3.8B deal. The company is in talks to sell off its health management business, reportedly under investor pressure.

Cunningham, based in Alere's headquarters in Waltham, Mass., exits the senior VP, corporate communications, slot at Lytx, the privately held producer of driver safety programs for commercial fleets formerly known as DriverCam.

"As we continue to execute on a series of changes to increase shareholder value, it is critical that we effectively communicate our progress to investors," Nawana said in a statement about bringing Cunningham on board to head financial communications.

Cunningham was VP of IR and corporate comms. at imaging software developer Mitek and managing director for The BlueshirtGroup. Earlier PR and IR posts included Novatel Wireless and Qualcomm.

Alere posted 2013 revenues of $3B with a net loss of $92.5M.
