Capital New York has 42 executive and editorial staffers at 333 W. 39th St.

Subscriptions are $3,000 yearly for most of the content. Some stories are in a free area, including a survey of editorial employment at major media by Joe Pompeo and a daily email wrap-up of news.

Staffers Joe Pompeo and Jeremy Barr have written extensively about the buyout of editorial staffers at the New York Times.

Allbritton is publisher of CNY; Jim VandeHei, president and CEO; Kim Kingsley, COO, and Roy Schwartz, chief revenue officer. Josh Benson and Tom McGeveran are co-editors and Gillian Reagan is managing editor.

Allbritton Family Sold to Sinclair

Allbritton Communications, Arlington, the leading subsidiary of Perpetual Corp., owned by the family of former Riggs Bank president Joe L. Allbritton, sold eight TV stations including WJLA-TV, D.C., to the Sinclair Broadcast Group for $985 million in 2013. FCC approval was obtained on July 24, 2014, according to Wikipedia.

Politico, which distributes content via the web, TV, newspaper and radio, was founded in 2007. It covers Congress, lobbying, politics, the media and the Presidency. Circulation of the newspaper is about 40,000 according to WP, although this is affected by whether Congress is in session.

Initial staffers included Washington Post political reporter VandeHei and John F. Harris, who had a 21-year career at the paper, rising to national political editor in 2005.

It was a sponsor of the 2007 GOP Presidential debates and the 2008 Democratic candidate debates.
